GCSE Results 2014
Well done to all Commonweal students
Huge congratulations to Year 11 2014 for achieving excellent exam results. Results which were greatly deserved and are a testament to their hard work, dedication and ability. Thanks must go to the student’s superb teachers and wonderfully supportive parents and carers.
Overall 64% of Year 11 students recorded 5 A* - C grades including Maths and English. This is an improvement on 2013 and comes despite numerous new challenges including the move to terminal assessment and the mid-course changes imposed in some subjects. Results were generally very positive across the range of subjects. However results in the key subjects of Maths and English deserve a special mention. 79% of students achieved a C grade or higher in Maths and 75% in English. These figures are both significantly higher than the national average. The English results come despite the fall in English grades nationally.
Additional Visits to The Commonweal School
Two additional opportunities to tour the school have been organised for parents and children who are unable to come to the School’s Open Evening on Wednesday, 10 September, 2014; the dates and times are as follows:
- Tuesday, 30 September, 2014 at 9.15 am
- Wednesday, 1 October, 2014 at 1.00 pm
We're Back !
After the busiest of summers Commonweal School and Sixth Form is back at work, and delighted to see each and every one of our 1230 students !
With C6 now fully operational, and having recorded our best ever GCSE results - in a significantly harder context – we have enjoyed a really bright and successful start to the year. Our calendar this year – available elsewhere on the website – is as full as ever, and we look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow at our Open Evening, from 6.00 – 8.00pm. If you haven’t already done so you will have the opportunity to view our brand new C6 build as well as taking in all the great work on display across all subject areas.
Provisional GCSE exam results have now risen to at least 65% of Year 11 students achieving 5 or more A* - C grades including English & Maths. Even more pleasing is that Maths A* - C now stands at 80%, with English A* - C at 78%, with impressive progress rates to boot !
