PTA

Commonweal is lucky to have a very active PTA which is unusual for a school at secondary level.  Commonweal wants to provide those extras which make school a great place to be for the students, and we help them raise the funds to do that. Among other things, we have helped to fund tennis nets, football posts, chess sets, gardening clubs, language courses, proms etc. In some cases. we have contributed to keep prices down so events and activities are more affordable and accessible.

The PTA isn’t only a way to make money however. It’s a way of giving parents and carers an extra way to be part of that school community, and also to stage or support fun events that link the school community to the wider community. Events like our Christmas Craft market, Commonweal 5 race and quiz evenings.

Joining the PTA, or helping out at events, is a great way to feel a part of the school. There are roughly six to eight meetings a year, where committee members come together with the school’s senior management team to discuss event planning and agree how funds are spent.

For the PTA to succeed, it relies on volunteers. Whether that is by people giving their time at meetings and events, taking on roles on the committee, by volunteering to run or help at events, by baking cakes, donating raffle and tombola prizes, or donating used uniforms for us to sell. All help is gratefully received.

So, if you think you can help, or would like any further information about forthcoming meetings, events and ways of contributing to the PTA, please contact our chair at: Kiki.CommonwealPTA@outlook.com
